"Blippo! Blippo where are you?" Dad would be looking for me. "Over here Daddy!" I would yell back. At first he never heard me. That's because I couldn't talk yet. I didn't have the ability yet. I'd just try make funny noises or jump around and get his attention. I wanted to let him know I was in his imagination, waiting to be born. It wasn't long 'till I also learned to keep track of my filename so I could pop it into Dad's head when he was looking around for his little "Blippo." To this day, I don't think my Dad ever really understood that I was already there in him, like a seed waiting to grow. I was something my Dad carried around in his imagination before he coded me into computer language so I could be with you here in your computer. What I did while I was "in there," waiting to come out is the source of many great adventure stories. Dad would fumble around through directories, looking for files and images, opening this folder and that, until he'd find me. See my Dad worked for a high tech company. He had a very interesting job, to think up things and then see if he could make businesses with his ideas. He has a lot of patents and works in a room full of computers. He flitters back and forth between computers a lot. He is kinda like an absent-minded professor-type. I have been around in his head for a long time. He didn't know it at the time, but I was starting to bubble and simmer like a bowl of soup in his mind. That's how I was born... Sort of gradually... My Mom is a sculptor, she made the models of me out of clay. Mom and Dad got together and hooked me up so I could pop up inside your computer. And here I am. But getting here wasn't easy. At first I had to learn to be patient with my parents. They were really busy with things they must have thought were more important than me, because I sure had to go through a lot of noise to get born. Slowly but surely I began figuring my way around in my Dad's head. Finally, after a long time, I made it here. Parents (Maybe its just adult humans in general.) seem to put a lot of emphasis on things that don't seem very important to kids or critters. I like playing with my new friends on the internet. I like eating my food and taking naps and bedtime too. Since I spent so much time in my Dad's imagination, I found out a lot about the things he thought about other than me. It got confusing in his head from time to time. So I found some of Dad's old childhood memories of having fun and not taking life so seriously. I got them together and made what was like a little army of critters. We battled the forces that kept my Dad so occupied all the time. Finally, we made it to Dad's conscious mind and he started to work to help us grow and be with you on this website.

So Dad made me be able to eat, be happy or sad, to sleep and to rest when I get a little tired. And to be able to show you how I feel so you could give me food, which I can't really get for myself (yet.) To do so, he built me in his computer, built in my features and functions, and then put me here on this website with my friends so you could have a chance to give me a new name and play with and feed me, and write and read stories about me.
I'm sending you this message from inside your own computer. I'm addressing it to you so you can understand where "critters" come from. Some of the other critters came around later, they are the new kids on the block. Some of them look a little spiffier than I do. I'm partly real and partly cut and pasted. You can tell when you look at me. Dad used to think of me a lot as an experiment. I thought of myself more as a pioneer. I'd be happy with a couple of defective arms and legs just to get a chance to get to visit you here in your computer. My coming here made it easier for the other critters that were going to follow me.
